The Teton Valley Ski Education Foundation (TVSEF) is excited for another upcoming winter season right around the corner. Registration is open and more information is available at www.tvsef.org. We anticipate this year being our biggest ever with enrollment of around 150 athletes. After a great summer of mountain bike camps, fundraising, and successful grant applications we can’t wait to slide on the snow and spend time outside this winter.

Thanks to everyone who came out and supported our most recent events: the Teton Gravity Research Movie “Paradise Waits” showing at the The Spud, and our 27th Annual Tugboat Memorial Ski Swap. By all metrics, they were huge successes and we could not do that without the support of volunteers, dedicated parents, and several local businesses whose support is immeasurable: Grand Targhee Resort, Peaked Sports, and Sego Ski Co. It’s a huge asset to have businesses that are so supportive of our local community in this valley.

I’m thrilled to announce that we were able to double our scholarship budget for this upcoming season. It can be difficult to outfit kids for all they need to ski and compete at a high level. I’m a firm believer that no child should see the sunrise over the Tetons without being proficient on skis through our long winters. We have awarded 15 total scholarships so far and have limited scholarship dollars remaining for our next scholarship deadline December 15th. More info. is available at the website.

During the off-snow season we aggressively pursued grant opportunities and were grateful to the support of many local granting agencies. With support from the Community Foundation of Teton Valley we were able to purchase a wireless timing system (a dream many years in the making). Thanks to the Teton Springs Foundation we purchased new, age-appropriate racing gates for our growing ranks. These gates will vastly assist us in hosting races at Grand Targhee Resort, like our Club Series races on January 24 and February 6. Due to support from Silverstar Communications, we were able to expand our Nordic skate skiing opportunities for elementary kids with the addition of more gear in our Nordic fleet. And thanks to Protect our Winters at Grand Targhee Resort, we purchased more roller ski set ups which allows us to train during more of the year.

We’re looking forward to a great season and simply could not do that without the immeasurable support of Grand Targhee Resort. We would love to have you and your family join our ski and snowboard community this winter. Soon enough we will be skiing on our valley Nordic Trails and flying down the mountain at Grand Targhee Resort. Hope to see you there.
